Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which massage is right for me?

Every body is different. At Thalassa Massage & Wellness, we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Your massage is customized based on your health history, pain areas, muscle tension, and personal preferences. We may combine Swedish, Deep Tissue, Thai, stretching, or other techniques to create the treatment that’s right for you.

2

Is deeper pressure always better?

No. More pressure doesn’t always mean better results. The most effective massage uses the appropriate pressure for your muscles and fascia. Excessive pressure may cause unnecessary soreness or irritation. Our goal is to relieve tension safely and effectively.

3

what should I wear during massage?

Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. You’ll always be properly draped with a sheet, and only the area being treated will be uncovered. Your comfort and privacy are our top priorities.

4

Do I have to undress completely?

No. You don't have to. You may undress to your comfort level. If you prefer to keep certain clothing on, your treatment can be adjusted accordingly.

5

Can I request more or less pressure?

Absolutely. Please let your therapist know at any time if you’d like more pressure, less pressure, or additional attention to a specific area.

6

How often should I get massage?

It depends on your goals. For stress relief, many clients benefit from a massage every 3–4 weeks. For chronic pain or muscle tension, more frequent sessions may be recommended.

7

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, Zelle, Venmo, and other available payment options. Please contact us if you have any questions before your appointment.

8

What is your cancellation policy?

We appreciate at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. This allows us to offer the appointment time to another client.

9

Can massage help with neck and shoulder pain?

Yes. Massage therapy may help relieve neck and shoulder pain caused by muscle tension, poor posture, stress, or repetitive activities. By reducing muscle tightness, improving circulation, and promoting relaxation, massage can help decrease discomfort and improve mobility.

At Thalassa Massage & Wellness, each session is personalized to your individual needs. We assess your areas of tension and combine techniques such as Swedish massage, Deep Tissue, stretching, and other appropriate methods to help you achieve the best results.

If your pain is severe, persistent, follows an injury, or is accompanied by numbness, tingling, weakness, fever, or other concerning symptoms, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider for an evaluation before receiving massage.

10

Is massage safe during pregnancy?

Yes, prenatal massage is generally considered safe for women with healthy, uncomplicated pregnancies when performed by a qualified massage therapist.

For most women, massage is most appropriate during the second and third trimesters. During the first trimester, some clients and healthcare providers prefer to postpone massage because this is the stage when the risk of miscarriage is naturally the highest.

Your therapist will modify positioning, pressure, and techniques to ensure your comfort and safety. Certain pressure points and deep tissue techniques are avoided during pregnancy.

If you have a high-risk pregnancy, vaginal bleeding, preeclampsia, severe swelling, fever, signs of preterm labor, or any other medical concerns, please consult your healthcare provider before scheduling a massage.
